This 2,300-square-foot addition in Mid-City Los Angeles includes a 1,000-square-foot one-bedroom detached ADU, an 800-square-foot garage and gym, and a separate studio. Positioned at the rear of the property, the ADU functions as a guest house, pool house, and fitness space, creating a flexible secondary living environment organized around the outdoor landscape.
The project reinterprets the traditional forms of a Mediterranean house through a more contemporary lens—simple volumes, arched openings, and a restrained material palette. Light-filled interior spaces open directly to the pool and garden, reinforcing a strong indoor-outdoor connection typical of Southern California living. The composition balances familiar residential forms with a modern approach to proportion, detail, and natural light, resulting in a cohesive addition that expands both the function and character of the property.
